This page covers the basic prerequisites and deployment flow for AppCentral.
The exact setup varies by customer and hardware platform, but the same core preparation steps apply in most environments.
Make sure you have:
- supported hardware, such as an approved OnLogic device or compatible Debian-based system
- network access to required Observit services
- available storage for recordings and local system data
- supported connected devices, such as cameras or sensors with the required API access
AppCentral is currently centered around:
- Debian-based deployments
x86_64 systems
Other platforms may require additional validation or custom development before they should be treated as supported.
A normal first-time deployment usually follows this order:
- Prepare the device and network connectivity.
- Install AppCentral on the target device.
- Configure the customer-specific settings.
- Connect cameras, sensors, and required services.
- Connect the deployment to the Observit backend.
- Verify recording, connectivity, and expected device discovery.
The device normally needs access to:
- required Debian repositories for updates and package handling
- required Observit services for backend communication and supportability
Without stable outbound access, updates, service communication, and long-term support become harder to maintain.
